God Doesn't Care About Rules

Most religions have rules about clothing or diet or specific days for fasting or rest, as if God would care about mundane things like that.
In Chapter 32 of The Transmigrant, Yeshua (Jesus) has returned to Galilee after eighteen years of traveling through Asia. He has amassed a group of followers and is teaching them what he learned from Oriental religions. At this time, the ultra-religious Pharisees and Sadducees are cracking down on anyone veering away from the Jewish Law. They've recently arrested and killed Yeshua's cousin Yochanan (John the Baptist). Yeshua's followers ask why he doesn't just obey the rules of their ancestors and make life easier for everyone. But Yeshua is stubborn, and he has learned that God cares more about your actions than any laws made by men.
